World's Highest Railway Bridge - Chenab River Bridge

The Chenab Bridge is a railway steel arch bridge under construction between Bakkal and Kauri in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir in India. The bridge is 1,315 meters long and 359 meters high. Once completed, it will be the tallest rail bridge in the world and will be 35 meters higher than the Eiffel Tower!

The bridge is being constructed in one of the most complicated and isolated terrains. One of the biggest challenges involved was construction of the bridge without obstructing the flow of the river. Approach roads, five kilometers in length, were constructed to reach the foundations of the bridge.

This is one of the most challenging infrastructures in the world. The steep slopes and difficult geological conditions brought great difficulties to the slope supporting, especially in the situation of hole collapse. Self drilling rock bolt could be used in all kinds of complicated geological conditions, including such cliff faces or steep slopes. Self drilling rock bolt, as a new anchoring method, has the functions of drilling, installation, grouting and anchoring simultaneously. It can improve the surrounding rock to achieve better supporting effect than traditional rock bolt.

When the Chenab Bridge is completed, it will contribute to the economic development of the state and help in providing better transportation accessibility within the state and the country.
