Hong Kong’s government is to improve liaison with the railway corporation MTRC after being caught by surprise by tunneling delays to the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link.
Hong Kong’s chief executive CY Leung said that the government will ensure that the line’s Hong Kong section is completed as soon as possible, and will improve its mechanism of working with the Mass Transit Railway Corporation.
He added that the government understands people’s concern about the construction delay and potential overspending. He said the government will ensure there are no delays and overspending on other railway projects.
It emerged last month that the HK$62.4bn (£4.8bn) scheme is running nearly a year late.
